This shawl mirrors the beautiful iridescence and vibrant sociability of the Grackle Bird.
Although Grackles may be seen by some to be nuisances, with their constant chatter and habits of moving in large groups, their strengths become more apparent when we get more familiar with them. They aren't related to crows as they first appear, but are close relatives to the meadowlark. Their colour is not really black, but change from blue to green to purple bronze depending on the light. They are very resourceful in being able to open tough nuts, and most wonderfully, they exemplify an image of carefree and happy sociability in groups.
This shawl features a congregation of Grackles in silhouette poses against a blue background with iridescent floral and strong weaving of thread patterns that symbolize the vibrant social life of Grackle birds.
